Bicoastal Music & Sound Company New Math Boosts Service Offering with Final Mix Capabilities

Bicoastal, full-scale music and sound company New Math has amplified its already robust service offering by adding final mix capabilities in both New York and LA.

In regards to why the time was right to implement final mix, which of course is the last step of the audio and finishing process before a project goes live, New Math Managing Partner/EP Kala Sherman explains, “More and more clients want to package all audio together in one place. It didn’t feel right to turn business away when there was a simple solution. Because we want to be a full-service audio company to our clients, it just makes sense when many of them want to work with one company for all audio needs. If we are already providing the music and sound design, why not record the VO and provide mix as well.”

Featuring a Focal 5.1 monitor system in both the NY and LA mix room, Pro Tools mix systems with state-of-the-art broadcast plugin suites and high-quality analog outboard gear from the likes of Neve, API, DW Fearn and Summit, New Math’s final mix offering will be overseen in New York by Head of Production B Munoz and on the West Coast by Senior Producer, Jake Falby. Along with the production heads, New Math’s final mix offering also boasts the services of an in-house roster of award-winning composers who are also highly trained audio engineers as well as freelance mixers/engineers on an as-needed basis.

According to Sherman, bringing final mix to the fold fulfills both an internal and external need for the company. “We have studios on both coasts so we felt we should build them both out for mix,” she adds. “That way, when our clients are finishing in either LA or NY, they could continue to work with us throughout the entire audio process. We’ve really missed the days when clients would come into the studio to listen to our music presentation and collaborate in person, so it’s been fun to have folks back in for the audio mix portion of it.”

Along with adding final mix capabilities, New Math has further solidified its industry presence this year by winning both an AICP award for Best Original Music and and LIA Gold prize for its work on MLB’s “Play Ball” spot created by Anomaly.
