The1stMovement Appoints Agency Exec Jeffrey Dumo as VP, Partnerships and Strategy

Digital agency The1stMovement (T1M), with offices spanning from LA to Denver to Hong Kong and a variety of clients including Cisco and Women of Wrestling, has welcomed longtime agency executive Jeffrey Dumo as its new VP of Partnerships and Strategy.

Dumo’s extensive background in leading many award-winning digital initiatives with clients large and small, coupled with his keen insight and ingenuity in all things digital perfectly complements the agency’s agile methodology, which emphasizes flexibility as well as rapid and constant communication and collaboration. “”

“I have had the pleasure to work with Jeff over 15 years ago and am thrilled to have us join our team to lead our Client Services practice,” says T1M CEO Ming Chan. “The1stMovement has always been about fostering long-term partnerships with our clients and Jeff’s experience and insight on developing meaningful relationships with many Fortune 100 and beyond clients will no doubt elevate us as a “relationship-focused” agency.”

Having spent nearly two decades working in client relations, business development and strategy, including several years as Founding Partner of Design Reactor, then Managing Partner and CEO at experiential digital design shop Array Interactive, Dumo hopes to leverage his wealth of experience in a position that allows him to embolden the inner workings of T1M. “I intend to use my experience to develop, nurture, and grow internal relationships first so we can shape external relationships naturally,” the exec says. “That will require us to create and maintain a client services culture where we are empathetic to one another’s needs, willing to do whatever it takes to help us see success together, and one that is about the ‘we’ and not ‘me.’ As this internal attitude grows, it will soon find its way naturally to the client.”

During his career, Dumo has not only worked with top-tier brands and organizations such as the San Francisco Giants, Universal Pictures, Jack Daniels, Twentieth Century Fox, NASA, U.S. Army and Adobe, but has led digital strategy and execution for ExxonMobil and built digital/online experiences for the likes of Disney, Warner Bros and MTV/VH1.

Now at T1M, Dumo reunites with Chan, who also previously worked at Design Reactor, and explores new territory as he drives growth by shaping and strengthening client relations. “I did not come to T1M for another agency job, I came for the challenge,” he explains. I saw this as an intriguing opportunity to shape perhaps the most critical function of an agency: how it interacts with, supports, leads, and influences its clients. It’s a challenge that requires important relationship and collaboration skills as well as an innate desire to lead. After all, leadership is influence. Without it, we’re simply a drive-thru agency, ready to simply take client orders. The last I looked, there are enough of those agencies. Brands are demanding much more and I look to help T1M fulfill those expectations.”

Dumo’s arrival at T1M comes on the heels of the agency’s hiring of Digital Producer Chris Fisher and further reinforces its focus on building a robust, agile and client-first brand that only continues to grow.
