A mobile museum experience created and designed by LOGAN, a bicoastal content creation studio, for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County has won a prestigious Superintendent’s Award for Excellence in Museum Education.
“Mobile Museum: An Ocean Experience,” a multi-dimensional immersive educational program, delivers a marine science and paleontology experience to students in grades 6-8 inside a 50-foot semi-trailer that is able to travel from school to school within the Los Angeles Unified School District, the nation’s second-largest district.
LOGAN, who partnered with curatorial company Flux, created the overall experience, including all video content as well the design of the physical space. As part of experience, students act as marine scientists and explore the biodiversity of the Pacific Ocean off the Southern California coast through underwater video and lectures.
The Superintendent’s Awards recognizes outstanding achievements in K-12 museum programs that serve students and educators in California. The award is sponsored by the California Association of Museums and the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
