Eskimo Expands in the East with New Office, Led By EP Kristofer Barton

Los Angeles-based creative studio Eskimo has opened the doors to its new office in the heart of Philadelphia as part of its expansion into the East Coast and to better accommodate its growing staff as well as full-service production/post capabilities. Heading up the office in the City of Brotherly Love is 10-year production vet Kristofer Barton, who joins Eskimo as partner/executive producer.

During his career, Barton has worked as a producer at various Philadelphia-based shops including production outfit Neighborhood Film Company and ad agency 160over90, collaborating with hometown clients such as the Philadelphia Eagles along the way. Early on, Barton logged time as a producer’s assistant, working closely with notable director and fellow Philly native, M. Night Shyamalan.

With an urge to return to the production company realm, Barton found instant kinship with the team at Eskimo, whose founder/partner Terry Rayment explains how their relationship essentially came full circle. “It’s ironic that our first job from Kris was when he was an agency producer and we were the production company,” he says. “For us, the top trait in a producer is how they multitask and Kris also carries a certain poise with him that’s infectious. That carries into our productions, where we take things very seriously but we’re also considered very relaxed. His level of ease and calmness with the work is why he fits in so well with us.”

Barton’s arrival at Eskimo – where he’s currently hard at work on a major action sports campaign – coincides with the production company’s hiring of ex-Light of Day founding partner/director Charles Nordeen and revamp of its regional talent representation, which now consists of Jolie Miller, Liz O’Connor, and Nata Andersen of Simpatico on the East Coast, Nikki Weiss-Goldstein in the Midwest, Perry Tongate of Perry Represents in the Southwest, and Marla Mossberg of N’cahoots on the West Coast.
