Santa Monica-based VFX/editorial/design studio BUTCHER is proud to announce the promotion of longtime, award-winning staff editor Teddy Gersten to the role of partner. During his time at BUTCHER, Gersten has worked with a variety of notable clients including Nike, Chrysler, Microsoft, Porsche and Jaguar, and has earned Clio and Cannes Lions awards for his Honda work.
As partner at BUTCHER, Gersten will continue to showcase his wide range of cutting styles while also assuming an essential mentorship role to the assistant editors on staff. Regarding Gersten’s promotion, BUTCHER founding partner Rob Van comments, “There was always something very special about Teddy. Not only did he arrive to us with a deep-seated passion and understanding of film, but he always had such a calm and reassuring way of dealing with people as well. We’re super excited to take this next step with him, and we look forward to all of the new thinking and contributions that Teddy will bring.”
Prior to joining BUTCHER, Gersten honed his editorial craft on the agency side at several New York shops including EURO RSCG (now Havas). “The opportunities that I’ve had at BUTCHER have pushed me to grow as an editor – and as a ping pong player,” Gersten explains. “I’m excited to join Dave and Rob for the future growth and expansion of BUTCHER.”
