Fresh off of helming his enthralling short film festival entry, Sushi & Nuclear, director Christian Holm-Glad of award-winning creative studio LOGAN returns to the commercial world with a new campaign for Norway-based electronics/household appliances chain, Lefdal.
Holm-Glad joins forces with fellow director, Andreas Nilsson, and Oslo agency, Schjærven Advertising, to bring Lefdal’s economical retail offerings to life within a variety of familiar settings, from suburbia to the office space. Featuring a curious cast of characters and peculiar, yet endearing leading man/narrator, the Lefdal campaign affords Holm-Glad the chance to try something new in the advertising realm. The director says, “These films have more humor than I usually tend to and are more in the line of my previous work directing TV comedy such as a comedy/musical drama and working with [Norwegian comedy duo] Ylvis.”
Melding dulcet musical tones with the dry musings of our Lefdal spokesman that are set against humorous scenarios in spots like “Price Hunter” and “Technophobe,” Holm-Glad was given plenty of creative freedom on the campaign, which allowed him to achieve his overall filmmaking goals. The director adds, “I feel I’ve got to make films that have their poetic moments and interesting characters that are not mainstream.”
