Rock Paper Scissors Cuts Slam Dunk for adidas

Rock Paper Scissors recently cut a stunning adidas spot telling the comeback story of injured Chicago Bulls guard Derek Rose. Editor Grant Surmi wove a beautiful tale of perseverance from the film shot by Imperial Woodpecker Director Stacy Wall.

Wake Up opens with an injured Rose curled up on the floor, clutching his knee, the television announcers delivering an ominous play by play. The camera moves over flash-frozen shots of a shell-shocked Chicago populace, dazed by the fall of their hero. Surmi segues seamlessly between these scenes and Rose’s high-intensity recovery workouts, then into a final raucous moment, during which a quaking crowd welcomes the recuperated All-Star back to United Center.
