rhinofx Helps Scarlett Johansson Fly In “Nanny Diaries”

The Brief:

New York’s rhinofx recently completed a major VFX project for Weinstein Company’s Nanny Diaries, starring Scarlett Johansson, Laura Linney, and Paul Giamatti. The rhinofx team created all the film’s visual effects including the opening diarama sequence for the film, to hit theaters on August 24th.

Arman Matin and Harry Dorrington shared the Visual Effects Supervision for Nanny Diaries, which is a comedy directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (dirs: American Splendor). The film is the second major film project for rhinofx in the past several months. Camille Geier, SVP of Production at rhinofx, notes that, “One of our key goals has been to expand our resources and talent for feature VFX and we have been able to see some immediate results with “Perfect Stranger” and “Nanny Diaries.” Leading our entire effects team, Harry and Arman really took the reigns with “Nanny Diaries” and worked very closely with the films’ directors to deliver some really amazing and innovative visual sequences.” In fact, the duo was a very integral part of the film’s overall creative team and the directors called on them for significant creative decisions and innovative visual delivery methods. The rhinofx team was constantly on set and helped the directors pull off some very intricate motion control sequences, CG freeze effects, photogrammetry, and image based modeling.

Both Matin and Dorrington have impressive backgrounds in both feature film and commercials. Arman’s unique visual style has been recognized across the industry and is showcased in award-winning visual effects and design work for Northwest Airlines, GMC, and Singular. He also designed and directed the opening title sequence for the recent feature film, Perfect Stranger, and is starting work on Ghost Town, a Paramount and Dreamworks production. Harry’s gift for innovative visual effects and powerful animation is evident throughout his extensive body of work. Since joining rhinofx in 2000, Dorrington has created and directed award-winning spots for AT&T, Fruit of the Loom and ATI. He also directed a long list of ground-breaking work for brands such as Jeep, Snicker’s POP’ables, K-Mart, Burger King, Juicy Juice, Pepperidge Farm, Kellogg’s, Disney, as well as a host of other fortune 100 companies.
