Pirate Inks Gary Tole
Just as 5.1 is becoming the standard surround mix for broadcast, Pirate NYC has signed a superstar in the medium. Grammy-nominated expert commercial audio post mixer Gary Tole is one of the top 5.1 engineers in the United States and has earned a reputation for consistently delivering mixes that are superior both technically and creatively. With more than two decades of experience, he is one of the few mixers who combine true audio post expertise and artistry to make his projects perpetual sonic stand-outs.
Tole will contribute to Pirate's many upcoming projects, including their ongoing commercial productions and their promo work for MTV Networks. "As we book more film and TV work than ever before, we are seeing that everyone is demanding 5.1, and we're excited to bring on Gary, who's one of the best there is," noted Pirate NY COO Tag Gross. "He's not just a commercial mixer; he has legitimate 5.1 experience for film and TV and the rare gift of technical expertise combined with creative ability."
Tole's impressive client list for commercials, film, videogames and recording artists is proof of his high industry standing. He has collaborated with Ogilvy & Mather, McCann-Erikson, Saatchi & Saatchi, Wieden+Kennedy and Leo Burnett. His commercials include the seminal Nike campaigns Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood, You Don't Know Diddley, and Flight Dimension. Tole has worked on several shows for Food Network and hit films Spider-Man 3, Rivers Wash Over Me, Coming to America, and the documentary Bigger Stronger Faster. Tole remixed music for the sensational Guitar Hero and Rock Band videogames. Among his countless recognitions, Tole is Grammy nominated and has received multi-platinum Awards for his work with Whitney Houston, Eric Clapton, Bon Jovi, and David Bowie, among others.
"I've been around so many world-class clients and studios that I know excellence when I see it, and Pirate is sound producing at a level as good as anyone in the industry," stated Tole. "I'm eager to join the crew and help Pirate as they continue to grow in the U.S."
Prior to jumping onboard with Pirate, Tole worked on records and TV and film post as a freelance engineer. Tole also spent time at Hit Factory NY and Ochoa Recording Studios in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
