jumP Opens LA Office
Creative editorial boutique jumP, founded in NYC, is adding bicoastal to its title with the recent expansion into the Los Angeles market. The physical expansion mirrors jumP's growing industry influence and gives the studio the resources and bicoastal presence that clients are continually expecting of top edit houses.
A number of factors made this the ideal moment for jumP to expand. "While some studios hunker down in a poor economy, we see it as the ideal opportunity to grow," stated jumP Partner/Managing Director Dee Tagert. "We have experienced talent excited by the opportunity and great deals in real estate, meaning the environment is perfect to really throw our energies into opening a top-flight West Coast wing."
New EP Josianne Cote will oversee a talented roster of editors capable of handling any project in the TV, film, emerging media, music video, or commercial worlds. Bob Mori, David Trachtenberg, Jack Douglas and Nick Lofting will form the core of jumP LA's founding roster, while more signings are in the works. Mori has worked around the world, doing post for five feature films, most recently the forthcoming Caught in the Crossfire. Trachtenberg is an ace editor who has worked on the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, short films, TV pilots, and high-profile commercials. Jack Douglas is a Clio-award winner who has spent nearly two decades as a creative film editor in New York, LA and points in between, working with top directors and clients.
Rounding out the veteran crew is award-winning English editor Lofting, known for creating commercials, music videos and long-form projects marked by his quirky sense of humor, unique style, unerring creative eye, and natural storytelling ability. Among many top commercial names, Lofting's impressive portfolio features an explosive, action-packed promo for Atari's Driv3R videogame, the poignant musically driven short film Jane Lloyd, the intro for the feature film Dawn of the Dead, and the Cornershop music video Lessons Learned from Rocky 1 to Rocky 3.
While the West Coast office will broaden jumP's influence and expand the company's overall resource pool and opportunities for collaboration, the new branch will function independently from the New York operations. The new studio will be ideally located for broader industry collaborations.
"This has been on the agenda for quite some time," noted Michael Saia, Partner and Editor. "I spent six weeks on a job in LA last year working with Epoch's Jeff Preiss, and it was that stretch that rekindled the idea."
"The more we talked internally about it, the more sense it made. Everything was there - the talent, the real estate, and, most important, the opportunity to expand and grow the brand," said Partner and Editor Luis Moreno.
