FEEDTHEWALRUS Sates Appetite With Editor Duncan Shepherd
In its drive to seek out the top talent in all facets of post production, FEEDTHEWALRUS has inked a deal with award-winning Editor Duncan Shepherd, an industry veteran who switches deftly between the commercial, music video and documentary domains. Duncan's countless high-profile projects include campaigns for Guinness, Levi's, Adidas, Saab, U.S. Army, Dove, as well as music videos for U2, Lauren Hill and Maroon 5 among others; he also cut A Different Story, a feature-length documentary about pop star George Michael.
Shepherd frequently collaborates with top agencies, including McCann Erickson, BBDO, JWT and Saatchi & Saatchi. He has worked with a string of prominent directors, including Vaughan Arnell, Malcolm Venville, Mehdi Norowzian, Frank Budgen, Nico Beyer, Anthea Benton, Tony Kaye, Mark Pellington, Samuel Bayer, Dominic Murphy, and Daniel Barber.
"Duncan and I used to work together in London and found our styles to be very similar, we always valued each others opinion and just really liked working with each other, so when the opportunity to add Duncan to FEEDTHEWALRUS' list popped up, we had to take it and we couldn't be happier. Duncan is a first class editor, has a fantastic knowledge of both Avid and Final Cut and has had an extensive career in the post world. Also, he is a generally fantastic bloke, which fits in perfectly with the FEEDTHEWALRUS ethos of recruiting great people."
Prior to joining FEEDTHEWALRUS, Shepherd spent time at 89 Edit and Final Cut, working in the latter company's London office and playing a major role in setting up its New York operations. He also spent time in Los Angeles and has worked all over the world.
"Duncan is a talented editor who understands the client's needs and is known for adding value to any project he's on," noted FEEDTHEWALRUS cofounder Jeff Stevens. "His knowledge of the industry as a whole and his awareness of the current technological trends make him a perfect fit for us and we look forward to collaborating with him again in the near future."
"I've worked with both Adam and Jeff for years and they're two of the best out there," said Shepherd. "So when I heard they were starting up a new kind of company, I knew it would be a great fit for both sides. The post-production landscape is changing on an almost hourly basis these days, especially with all the digital channels, and editors need to be able to drive the creativity further than ever before, with less budget, less time, and more technology. But the creative, and, by definition, the people, are still the overriding key to a great final product. The challenge is how to make noticeable, funny, beautiful, ads that viewers will voluntarily watch. I'm looking forward to that new era. Bring on the Walrus!"
