Click 3X Images for Rihanna Go From the Video Screen to the Stage

The dance-hall imagery and animation courtesy of Click 3X for Rihanna's chart-topping music video Rude Boy are too good to stay on the small screen-the pop princess likes them so much, she's using them bigger-than-life in her live show.

The music video that MTV calls a "technicolor masterpiece" has more than 28.4 million views on its official YouTube posting alone, and the song remains No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100. "We started with Rihanna's vision of a vibrant pop art video in which she changed personas in almost every scene," said Click 3X's Mark Szumski, the project's Creative Director. "We drew inspiration from pop icons Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, and we created much of the video's vibrancy with 8-bit video game graphics, hand-drawn animation, and scanned Crayola textures."

Click blended low-fi with high-tech: Production involved After Effects, Smoke, Cinema 4D and Flame, and the black-and-white Keith Haring-inspired section of the video was created entirely in CGI, then composited in to look like it was captured on camera.

Fans will see the animation on stage and larger-than-life this month, when Rihanna kicks off her world tour to promote the album Rated R.
