audioEngine Goes Full Speed Ahead With ESPN
audioEngine Mixer Hillary Martell delivers another audio masterpiece in the latest ESPN spot. The :60, done via Wieden+Kennedy, is a synthesis of a classic country jam and the big-time business of modern stock-car racing.
When two truckers - hauling Carl Edwards' No. 99 car and Brad Keselowski's No. 12 car from Bristol to Talladega - find themselves fueling up across from one another at a country gas station, their trash talking soon evolves into an all-out 18-wheeler race down the wide-open nighttime highway. The pair thunder along the road to the sounds of Jerry Reed's famous East Bound and Down, maneuvering around one another in finest NASCAR fashion, moving with such velocity that their tailwinds spill the coffee cup of an idle highway patrolman. As the cop busts out in pursuit, the chase continues with the pack passing a sign that reads, "State Line - 27 miles."
From the sound of crickets at the rural gas station to the whoosh of the giant rigs accelerating to the buzz of police sirens, Martell perfectly blends sound and action in this miniature narrative masterpiece.
