audioEngine Mixes a Series of Nail Biters for Discovery's Shark Week

As shark fans across the country gear up for the greatest week in television starting Aug 1st, audioEngine's Carl Mandelbaum has mixed a series of spots to promote the iconic Discovery Channel series. Each spot is organized around a before-and-after setup, showing anxious viewers prior to watching a montage of shark footage and again once the sequence is complete. Inevitably, Shark Week bowls them over.

Dude opens with two friends - eight- and 10-year veterans of Shark Week - anxiously waiting to expose their buddy to his first taste of the series. A rapid-fire sequence of sharks then erupts onto the screen, showing the ocean-going predators devouring all manners of inferior sea life as dramatic music perfectly augments the scene. When the camera shifts back to the trio, they are sprawled out on the ground, chairs overturned, completely amazed at what they have just witnessed.

Father & Son follows a similar script, with a 13-year Shark Week veteran introducing his son to the series for the first time. As the child sits in complete amazement with mouth seemingly locked agape after watching the sharks, the man whispers to his glaring wife that the boy had to learn about this somewhere.

Just Friends features a man and woman - both longtime Shark Week followers - sitting on opposite ends of the couch, insisting they are watching the series together as friends only. But when the shark footage reaches its explosive conclusion, we cut back to find the couple sitting side by side, hair mussed and a dazed look across both their faces.
